I understand that the cycle is 250 miles since new? Thake it back to the dealer now. It should not have drive train noise. The Savage does not shift hard or abrupt. There sould not be a clunk into low either. Something is teriblely out of adjustment.
What worries me is the drive noise!? This makes it appear, to be more than a linkage adjustment problem.
Note: some people do experience a little dificulty at times finding 5th gear. I had that trouble for awhile, but it has gone away.
